Field Manual No. 8

We Fight Back Negativity

The receipts, the tools, and what to do with them.

Inside the Manual

A toolbox for checking the ledger

We Fight Back Negativity is not a warning page. It is a practical toolbox built around facts a reader can check and actions that can be done without paying for them. It asks the reader to set up one conversational AI tool, test claims through five proofs, audit a fear-and-anger feed for seven days, and use free resources already within reach.

The manual also treats these tools with clear limits. It says not to enter Social Security numbers, card numbers, passwords, or logins; to verify anything involving money, medicine, or law with a real human; and to assume an AI system can be confidently wrong.

The manual includes a crisis note: hope is not a treatment plan. If someone is in serious trouble, call or text 988 in the United States, and do not wait.

The core approach

Check the claim. Use the tool. Keep the guardrails.

Check the Receipts

Use the five proofs and their named sources to test whether a positive claim happened as described rather than accepting either panic or optimism on faith.

Change the Diet

Run the seven-day audit of fear-and-anger content against material that teaches or leaves the reader better, then adjust feed time for one week.

Use It Safely

Talk to the tool in plain language, ask one real question, correct it when it is wrong, and apply the house rules before trusting its output.

A month of practical work

What You'll Find Inside

  • Setup: device-specific steps for iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac, plus microphone, password, display, and support fixes.
  • Five proofs: checkable examples involving protein structures, breast-cancer screening, Be My Eyes, cyclone mortality, and the argument about scarcity and work.
  • Seven-day doom diet: record fear or anger against learned or better content and use the three-to-one and five-to-one scoring rules.
  • First question: tell the tool who you are, what you want, say when it is wrong, and keep asking.
  • Ten jobs: plain-language letters, diagnoses, writing, meals, lessons, translation, bills, appointment questions, repairs, and job applications.
  • Free shelf and too-late page: general assistants, tutoring, accessibility tools, libraries, research, and a first small step toward something the reader thought was too late.
  • House rules and ladder: privacy boundaries, human checks, a four-week progression, and a relay to teach one other person.

Use it as a printable field guide

Start with one real question

Print the manual and work in order. Set up one tool, write the first question before opening it, run the seven-day audit, and use the ten jobs to solve something that matters in the household. Then follow the thirty-day ladder: one question and audit, three jobs, one fifteen-minute lesson each day, and teaching one other person.

Keep the house rules visible. Never enter sensitive credentials, verify consequential advice with a human, read every word placed under your name, and call a person if the tool becomes the only voice you talk to.
